2-second tactic to 10X the power of your copy

By November 5, 2017Uncategorized

Dead serious.

If you use this 2-second trick that I’m about to show you…

You can 10X the effectiveness of your copy. Easily.

Ready?

Here’s what you do:

Take 2 seconds and turn off your computer. That’s it. Turn off Mr. Lappy… go grab a yellow legal pad and pilot G2 pen… and start scribbling.

All of my best copy… I wrote by hand on a legal pad.

Why does this help?

It slows you down. By the time you get to the end of the sentence, your brain often comes up with a better way of saying the thing you were trying to say… than the way you were going to use. Plus there’s just less distractions. The less distractions there are, the less distracted you are… and the less distracted & more focused your copy becomes. Focused copy is the best kind of copy.

You’ve probably heard people tell you to write things by hand before.

But I’m not playing around.

If you want to write great copy… you need to do it.

Everything you know about writing killer copy just comes to you easier when you’re writing by hand. And for lots of unnamed reasons, you’re just naturally more persuasive.

But is it EVER okay to just go straight google docs?

Yes.

When speed is a much higher priority than quality… then it’s okay.

When you just need to ‘crank something out’… and your copy doesn’t have to be that persuasive, as long as it passes a certain low-threshold of persuasiveness… then it’s okay to go to straight to Google docs. For example, if you need to send out a reminder email for a webinar you’re doing later today… that’s only gonna have 4-5 lines of copy and a couple bullets, and it needs to be sent NOW… just go straight to Google docs. Or if you’re doing a daily email, and you haven’t sent your email yet, and it’s midnight, and you should’ve been in bed 1.5 hours ago… just go to Google Docs and bang out your email. Don’t bother with paper.

But when persuasiveness is a much higher priority than speed… and it’s really important that you nail the copy… use a legal pad.
